Salt and wind together
Bloubergstrand's doors get the Atlantic Seaboard's salt and the West Coast's wind at once, and they show it. The roll-ups fitted for the wind have sand in their guides and salt on their guides' steel fixings; the steel sectionals on the seafront lose their bottom panel from the edge up and their cables from the inside; every motor board is on borrowed time. A panel replacement here comes with stainless hinges and a sealed edge, and a door specified for the coast in the first place is the only kind that lasts.
Blocks on the beachfront
The apartment blocks along the beach have basement doors on the managing agent's list, on commercial motors in the worst exposure in the suburb, and a planned service interval on a commercial motor is far cheaper than the seven-in-the-morning failure. A door stuck shut with a block's cars behind it is an emergency at any hour.
Getting here
Bloubergstrand is off the R27 and a reasonable drive. Table View, Big Bay and Sunset Beach share the routes.
