Beachfront estates
Big Bay is estate living on the beach, and its doors get the worst of the West Coast's wind and spray behind an estate gate that decides the arrival time. The doors are new-build sectionals and roll-ups with developer motors failing at year four, and the exposure means every steel part that was fitted in standard finish is rusting — bottom panels from the edge, cables from the inside, brackets at the fixings. Stainless is the replacement specification, and a motor sized for the door is the honest fix for the developer unit.
Eden on the Bay, and the blocks
The blocks around Eden on the Bay have basement doors on the managing agent's list in the worst exposure in the suburb, and a planned service on the commercial motor is far cheaper than the failure. Phoning the estate gatehouse while still on the phone to us is what shortens the wait on any call here.
Getting here
Big Bay is off the R27 and a real drive from the city. Bloubergstrand, Melkbosstrand and Parklands share the routes, and an emergency is attended at the honest window with the gate sorted in advance.
