Roll-ups, and why they are here
Table View gets the south-easter harder and more often than almost anywhere, and its garage doors are mostly roll-ups for that reason — a curtain in its guides carries the wind into the wall where a sectional's panels rattle and stress. They were the right choice. Their weakness is sand: it gets into the guides the curtain runs in, wears the slat edges, and a Table View roll-up that has never had its guides cleared is a door that starts sticking on a windy week and straining its motor. Clearing and lubricating the guides is done on every visit.
Complexes and developer motors
The newer complexes off Blaauwberg Road have the year-four motor failure on units chosen for price, and a dozen garages on a shared wall interfering with each other's receivers. The older streets toward the beachfront have steel tip-ups and sectionals with the salt problems of the seafront — bottom panels going from the edge, cables rusting from the inside.
Getting here
Table View is off the R27 and a reasonable drive from the city. Bloubergstrand, Parklands and Milnerton share the routes, and an emergency is attended at the honest window.
