The old town
Stellenbosch's historic core along Dorp Street and the streets off it has garages fitted into Cape Dutch and Victorian frontages, and a heritage overlay with a strong view on the door. A timber tip-up kept and automated in place where the frame is sound, or a like-for-like timber replacement made to the opening, is what suits it; a bare steel sectional does not, and installation here starts with what the street will accept.
Estates and students
The estates on the edge of town have double sectionals with developer motors failing at year four, and a motor sized for the door is the fix that lasts. The student lets in between have doors doing thirty cycles a day on springs built for six, and a landlord who services the door every couple of years and wipes the receiver at every tenant change spends far less than one who waits for the emergency.
Getting here
Stellenbosch is a real drive out the N2 or R300, and the window says so; calls are paired with Somerset West, Paarl and Franschhoek so the drive is not the whole job.
