Heat, not salt
Paarl has none of the coast's salt and all of the Winelands' heat, and a garage motor in a north-facing Paarl garage in February runs in an oven. Motor boards fail from heat here the way they fail from salt in Sea Point, and a motor repair in summer is often a cooked board or a thermally tripped unit. A motor mounted away from the roof sheeting, and a garage that vents, is worth more than any brand.
Main Road homes and the estates
Along the Main Road and the streets off it the homes are established, with steel tip-ups and sectionals doing the ordinary spring and roller work and automation in place where they are still manual. The estates below Paarl Rock and toward the Mall have developer sectionals with the year-four motor failure, and a second remote for a new driver is the commonest small call.
Getting here
Paarl is a real drive out the N1, and the window says so; calls are paired with Wellington, Franschhoek and Stellenbosch so the drive is not the whole job. An emergency is attended at the honest window.
