Town doors, sixty years on
Wellington's streets have single garages with steel tip-ups from the sixties and seventies that are simple, durable and getting heavy for the people lifting them. Pivot springs renewed, bearings replaced, and automation in place for households that no longer want to lift the door is the commonest call, on driveways that have the room for the swing.
Farms, and the heat
The farms around the town have outbuildings with wide doors for implements and bakkies, on heavy springs and motors rated for the width, and a roll-up is often the right door for a shed. Wellington's summer heat cooks motor boards the way Paarl's does, and a motor repair in February is often a thermally failed unit in a north-facing garage.
Getting here
Wellington is the far end of the N1 run and a real drive; the window is quoted honestly and calls are paired with Paarl, Franschhoek and Stellenbosch. An emergency is attended at the honest window.
