The forest edge
Tokai's stands run up to the forest, and the doors on them live under pines. Needles fill the top tracks of a sectional faster than oak leaves do, and a roller jumping on a Tokai door is nearly always a track full of them. The stands are large and the doors are double and triple, and the work is the Southern Suburbs' usual: a spring on a door that has done its cycles, a motor gear, a cable and track visit that starts with clearing the needles.
The mountain damp is here too, and steel brackets rust at their fixings the way they do in Newlands.
Toward the mall
Down toward Blue Route Mall and the Main Road the stands shrink to townhouses and complexes with developer sectionals, and the calls are the year-four motor failure and the handover faults — beams never aligned, force limits at factory default. A motor sized for the door is the honest fix on the first, and one visit puts the second right.
Getting here
Tokai is at the end of the M3 and quick to reach. Bergvliet, Kirstenhof and Steenberg share the routes.
