Family homes and the walkway backs
Bergvliet's older streets back onto pedestrian walkways, and a good number of garages open onto them rather than onto the road — which changes what a stuck door means, because a garage open to a walkway at night is open to anyone walking it. A door stuck open here is an emergency for that reason, and it is secured first. The doors themselves are steel sectionals and tip-ups from the eighties, with the ordinary spring and roller work of the Southern Suburbs.
The complexes
Off Firgrove Way and toward Meadowridge the newer complexes have sectionals with developer motors, and the year-four motor failure on a unit chosen for price is the commonest call there. A motor sized for the door is the honest fix, and the shared driveways are booked through the managing agent.
Getting here
Bergvliet is off the M3 via Ladies Mile and quick to reach. Meadowridge, Diep River and Tokai share the routes.
