The slope decides everything
Oranjezicht climbs the mountain, and its garages are cut into the hill with lintels doing structural work and driveways falling steeply to the street. The opening is rarely square to the ceiling, and a standard sectional fits one side and not the other. Low-headroom track kits get a sectional into some; a roll-up that coils into a barrel gets into most; and the measuring visit takes longer here because the numbers decide the door rather than the brochure.
A tip-up that swings out over a falling driveway is fine in Oranjezicht, and the old timber ones on the older houses are kept and automated in place where the frame is sound.
Wind and the mountain
The south-easter comes over the Bowl hard here, and a door facing it takes a load. Sectional hinges and brackets are checked more often, and a cable and track call is often a bracket the wind has loosened. The mountain damp gets at steel fixings the way it does in Newlands, and a motor repair sometimes finds a corroded board.
Getting here
Oranjezicht is minutes from the city and quick to reach, with the steep streets and the parking the only delay. Gardens, Vredehoek and Higgovale share the routes, and an emergency is at the fast end.
