Steel doors, forty years in
Monte Vista's streets off the Boulevard have single and double garages with steel tip-ups and early sectionals from the seventies and eighties, on family houses that have kept them. They get heavy when the springs lose tension and noisy when the bearings and rollers go, and neither is a replacement. A motor repair here is usually a gear on a unit worth keeping.
Automating, and the second remote
A lot of Monte Vista doors are still manual, and on driveways with the swing, automation in place is the commonest new-work call. A second remote for a new driver is the commonest small one.
Getting here
Monte Vista is off the N1 at Plattekloof Road and quick to reach. Goodwood, Panorama and Parow share the routes, and an emergency is at the fast end.
