Baboons, and the door that has to shut
Llandudno's houses share the hillside with a baboon troop, and a garage door that does not close fully, or that a baboon can lift, is a garage that gets raided. That makes a door that has become heavy and is not closing properly — a spring that has lost its wind — a bigger problem here than anywhere else, and it makes the auto-close on a motor a feature people actually use. A door stuck open is an emergency for a reason nowhere else in the city has.
The hillside, the salt and the road
The houses are steep, the driveways drop to the road, and the doors face the sea and get the spray — stainless hardware and a sealed panel are the specification, and a motor is on a service interval. Llandudno is one road in, and it closes in a storm; a service before winter matters more here than the remote that reaches from the road, though that matters too.
Getting here
Llandudno is a real drive from the city over Victoria Road, and the arrival window says so. Bakoven, Hout Bay and Camps Bay share the routes.
