The older streets
Kraaifontein's established streets have single garages with steel tip-ups from the seventies and eighties, simple doors that get heavy when the pivot springs lose tension and squeak when the bearings go. A spring pair and bearings is a morning, and where the door is still manual and the driveway has the swing, automation in place keeps a door that would cost far more to replace.
The new estates
The estates on the edge toward Okavango Road are new-build sectionals with the developer motor and the handover faults, and the year-four motor failure is the call there. A second remote for a new driver and a receiver wipe after a lost one are the small calls that fill the rest.
Getting here
Kraaifontein is off the N1 and a reasonable drive. Brackenfell, Durbanville and Kuils River share the routes, and an emergency is attended at the honest window for the road.
