The blocks around the stadium
Green Point has built a great many apartment blocks in the last fifteen years, around the stadium and along Somerset Road, and their basement doors are commercial roller shutters and sectionals doing hundreds of cycles on motors that wear on a schedule. The managing agent's call is treated as an emergency when the door is shut and a building cannot get out, and a planned service interval on a commercial motor is far cheaper than the failure.
The hill, and the salt
The older houses up the hill toward Signal Hill have their own doors, and they get the same salt as the seafront below — motor boards corrode, cables rust from the inside, bottom panels bubble. Stainless hardware and a sealed panel edge on any door that faces the sea is the specification, and a panel replacement here comes with stainless hinges as a matter of course.
