Bishopscourt garages hold three and four cars, on doors that are either one very wide sectional or several singles side by side, and the springs and motors on a door that size are not the ones on a Plumstead single. A very wide sectional needs a pair of heavy torsion springs and a motor rated for its weight, and a technician arriving without the right sizes makes two trips. The van carries them. Damp, trees and long driveways
Bishopscourt sits under Kirstenbosch and gets the same damp and the same trees as Newlands: fixings rust, tracks fill with litter, timber swells. The driveways are long and the houses far from the road, which means a remote that reaches from the gate and a receiver with the range for it, and which means an emergency at night needs the gate arrangement sorted before the van arrives.
Getting here
Bishopscourt is off the M3 and quick to reach, with the gate and the drive the only things that slow it. Constantia, Newlands and Claremont share the routes.
